[From the industry] NSE and SteelSeries turn up the volume on university esports

Today, National Student Esports (NSE), the official body of university esports in the UK, is thrilled to announce a ground-breaking partnership with SteelSeries, the worldwide leader in gaming and esports gear that fuses gaming and culture. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the evolution of university esports, as SteelSeries becomes the official peripherals brand of the British University Esports Championship.

During the 2023/24 academic year, the British University Esports Championship was the focal point of the university esports ecosystem, hosting 15,000 matches with participation from 2,200 teams and 113 universities. Going forward, SteelSeries will be present throughout NSE’s core competitive tournaments, supporting the UK’s largest grassroots gaming community.

Students will have the chance to experience state-of-the-art SteelSeries tournament-ready Arctis Nova Series gaming headsets during the BUEC 2025 finals, ensuring that every footstep and communication is heard during each vital game. SteelSeries will be joining other partners from the NSE’s roster such as Scan Computers, Monster Energy, UNiDAYS, Pringles, Intel and iiyama.

SteelSeries will also be supporting NSE in sending out branded merch to 100+ gaming and esports societies for their freshers’ fairs. This is a key time for society leaders to recruit new members into their tight-knit communities and SteelSeries will be supporting the grassroots community by encouraging players to compete in NSE’s tournaments and to take part in exciting events.

Alex Coulson, Managing Director at NSE said: “We are very happy to announce this new partnership with SteelSeries, a brand renowned for its high quality and gamer-centric peripherals. This collaboration represents another significant advancement for NSE, reaffirming our commitment to creating a thriving esports ecosystem for university students across the UK.”

Tony Trubridge, Global Esports Director at SteelSeries said: “We are obsessed with making a difference in a gamer’s game, life, and world, and we are passionate about empowering gamers to push the boundaries and achieve their best. Partnering with NSE and the British University Esports Championship allows us to further showcase how we live at the intersection of gaming and culture while supporting the next generation of esports talent and providing them with the tools they need to succeed. We look forward to a successful collaboration and seeing these talented students thrive.”

NSE is approaching the end of its Summer season where students compete in several titles including; VALORANT, Teamfight Tactics, Rocket League, League of Legends, Overwatch 2, Rainbow Six Siege, Counter-Strike 2, Splatoon 3 and Apex Legends.
