Yogscast: We would never compromise our integrity

UK YouTube giant Yogscast says it can help publishers sell games, but it will never compromise its integrity.

The company’s comments come as Microsoft and EA suffer criticism for encouraging YouTube bloggers to post positive coverage about its games in exchange for money.

Yogscast is a value-led business and the audience is all important; we’re not for sale and we don’t involve ourselves in activities that compromise our integrity,” said CEO Mark Turpin.

The UK’s most viewed YouTube channel had a big year in 2013 after acquiring Sony’s PlayStation Access team, in addition to recruiting former Future Publishing exec Rich Keith as GM.

Bringing in Rich means we can have a commercial focus while ensuring we don’t get distracted from our priority of creating world class entertainment,” added Turpin.

People have stopped using demos as the deciding factor of whether to buy a game or not. We know that games played across Yogscast move people to purchase.”
