Yooka-Laylee developers buoyed by Ratchet & Clank success

The commercial success of the new Ratchet & Clank reboot has excited the creators of Yooka-Laylee.

Like Ratchet & Clank, Yooka-Laylee is a 3D platformer. It generated 2.1m via Kickstarter, and studio Playtonic admits it’s nervous that many of those interested in the game will already own it as a Kickstarter backer. Yet the success of Ratchet has given studio boss Gavin Price belief that there is more success to come.

Ratchet & Clank was just amazing,” he told MCV @ Gamescom. It gives us a bit of hope that people are playing different things. As an industry, we are still very young, and as we are growing up, surely our tastes will keep changing?”

I just want to keep making games. If we can sell enough to do that, I’ll be happy.”
