Total payments made to content creators through Steam Workshop have surpassed $57m since its launch in late 2011.
The money was earned by more than 1,500 contributors and 75 countries making items for Team Fortress 2, DOTA 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Though only previously open to Valve’s titles, the firm has now opened up its revenue generating Workshops to games developed by other studios. The first of these curated Workshops will be for Dungeon Defenders: Eternity and Chivalry: Medieval Warfare.
More are expected to become available to creators and players in various games during the coming weeks and months.
Valve is also releasing new revenue tools for Workshop content creators to track where their revenue is coming from and enable them to view real-time sales data.
