Mobile games publisher Chillingo, barely known a year ago but now ubiquitous thanks to Angry Birds, beat off the challenge of established powerhouses to claim the Best Games Company gong at last night’s ME Awards.
In doing so it successfully beat off rivals such as Gameloft and its new owners EA.
The fifth annual ME Awards took place at the Royal Garden Hotel in London earlier this evening, attracting over 300 senior professionals from all over the world. They were drawn from companies such as Google, PayPal, Nokia, RIM, Facebook, O2, Orange, OpenMarket and many more.
Elsewhere in the Awards, Foursquare bagged the new ‘Best Location Company’ gong ahead of rival nominees such as Booyah and Layar while in the ‘Best Music Service Provider’ category, Spotify ended Shazam’s run of success.
