Bubble Burst and Monster Legacy developer to invest in new staff

Scottish F2P developer Outplay raises $5m

Dundee-based free-to-play mobile game developer Outplay Entertainment has raised $5m to further expand its business.

The investment will specifically be used for hiring new staff and ensuring it has the capital to back upcoming game releases.

The funding round was led by Oxford Capital, which joins Pentech Ventures and the Scottish Investment Bank in backing the studio.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Oxford Capital in this next stage of our company’s journey,” said Outplay CEO Douglas Hare.

“Oxford Capital has already demonstrated some great insights into our business as part of the investment process. Adding their sector and function specific experience to our talented board will help us to significantly enhance our strategy and reach.”

Outplay was founded in 2011 by Richard and Douglas Hare. Since then the developer has gone on to release titles such as Bubble Blaze and Monster Legacy.
