The World Electronic Sports Games (WESG) is set to stay in Changzhou, China for at least the next three years thanks to a major investment from Alibaba’s sports division.
Alisports has announced that it intends to hold the major event that sees teams play for that nations, in China for the next three years by investing millions into the event. This is part of the organisations plan to invest $150 million into the world of eSports, and a part of its 10 year plan to establish Changzhou as a major eSports location.
This year’s WESG event is currently taking place in the city, with a massive $5.5 million prize pool split across CS:GO, Dota 2, Hearthstone and StarCraft II.
