[From the industry] NG24 Spring: “A plethora of great content and a glorious 20th anniversary”

The 20th anniversary edition of Nordic Game Conference from May 21 till May 24 was a big success, with many brilliant speakers and attendees from all over the world.

More than 2500 attendees visited the live event, either physically in Malmö, or online via the Nordic Game Discord. 30k unique viewers watched the live streamed talks and sessions from the main theatre at the Slagthuset venue via streams and the NG Discord. 157 speakers from many different countries and regions discussed industry trends, thought-provoking insights and helpful learnings.

Topics such as Virtual Reality, AI, sustainable studio management, adapting to changes as well as cultural representation in games and even romance design in games were debated throughout the show by industry experts and game studio leads.

Like always business and matchmaking are an integral part of Nordic Game. Via the meeting system MeetToMatch a total of 3,522 confirmed meetings were held, up from 3,328 last year.

Also, on its 20th anniversary the conference hosted the Nordic Game Awards 2024, honoring the best projects from Nordic game developers. Big winner of the evening was Alan Wake by Remedy Entertainment with three prizes for Nordic Game of the year, Best Art and Best Audio. Nordic Game of the Year – Small Screen goes to Rytmos by Floppy Club. Best Game Design is awarded to COCOON by Geometric Interactive. Best Technology goes to THE FINALS by Embark Studios. Best Fun for Everyone is awarded to Ikonei Island by Snowcastle Games. And the Best Debut honors Bramble: The Mountain King by Maximum Entertainment.

Next year’s Nordic Game Conference will happen at Slagthuset in Malmö and online from 20-23 May 2025.
